Review Policy

General information

I am currently accepting select Adult, Young Adult, or Middle Grade books for review. You can send emails to leaninglightss at gmail dot com.

I accept print ARCs, finished copies, and audiobooks. If the book is a part of a series, then I may need the previous books.

Accepting Books

If I accept a book for review, that does not guarantee a review. I will always try to read and review in a timely fashion keeping in mind release dates, but I cannot 100% guarantee this will happen. The best chance for this happening is to receive a book 3-4 months prior to release and/or when you would like the review posted.

Reviews

I value fair and honest reviews. I am not mean-spirited and even if I didn't love a book, I want to sit down and have a calm and rational discussion about why. I also stress to my viewers that just because I didn't personally enjoy a book doesn't mean it is a bad book or won't be enjoyed by someone else.

I do not attack authors because it is in poor taste and detracts away from the subject at hand: the book.

On the very rare occasion I have had to put books down (DNF). If this occurs, I will still mention the book and explain why I chose not to finish it and how far I got in the book. I do not give star-ratings to DNF'd books because I do not feel it is fair, as I did not read it in it's entirety.

Review Structure

All *written* reviews will include the following:

Cover art
Book stats: Title, author, publisher, page count, release date, series status
Where I received the book
My review: What I liked and didn't
Star rating *I am a vlogger on YouTube in addition to my written blog. My reviews are often times stand-alone video reviews or are included in reading wrap-up style videos in which I will include cover art, title, author, publisher, release date, series status, where I received the book, my review and my star rating.

Star Rating

5 stars = I loved the book and would highly recommend!

4 stars = I definitely enjoyed the book and still recommend. Above average and while not perfect, I liked it overall.

3 stars = I liked certain aspects of the book but there were enough things that bothered me to affect my enjoyment.

2 stars = I didn't like the book and most likely had technical/ethical problems with the book and/or the writing style. This doesn't happen often.

1 star = I didn't like the book AT ALL. I usually don't complete books I struggle this much with -so this is a very rare rating from me.
